I offer a safe, warm, confidential space where I will listen, with empathy and respect, as we begin to explore your concerns, so that you can begin to make sense and meaning of your experiences.

I won’t judge you. Instead, I will support you to look at your patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that may be holding you back from making positive changes in your life.

I draw on various therapeutic models including Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis (TA) in a way that’s tailored to fit you as an individual. Sometimes it’s helpful to work somatically, by bringing your awareness to your body’s response to your emotions in the here-and-now. I have lots of resources in my counselling room for working creatively if that is something that resonates with you (but it’s ok if it doesn’t!).

I won’t give you advice as my belief is that you are the person best placed to make your own decisions (although it may not feel that way right now). I will listen to you in a way that allows me to begin to understand the world through your eyes. This is one of the ways in which counselling is very different from talking to a friend or family member.

"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know"

– Carl Rogers.
